One Permanent Main Realm + Seasonal Grand Openings

Easy version: all old realms merge into the Main Realm. Future grand openings are seasonal only. You can transfer up to 2 characters from a seasonal special drop realm into the Main Realm.

All realms merged Elite, Apex, Bliss and Nexus are all part of the same bigger realm system now.
Why this is better You can enjoy fresh starts in seasonal openings, but still keep your long-term progress in one permanent home.
